Manuka honey is a product of the manuka tree(Leptospermum scoparium), found in New Zealand and Australia. Different subspecies of the manuka tree contain varying amounts of an essential oil called "leptospermone", from which the plant's antibacterial properties are derived. It has been shown that manuka honey has a greater antibacterial effect than other honeys.

Uses: externally, it is used to cure skin problems such as wounds, ulcers, herpes, eczema, athlete's foot, acne, etc. Internally, it is good for digestion, stomach ulcers and to strengthen the immune system.
